Hulk Hogan Death Potentially Cause by Medical Malpractice

Jonathan EscuderoComment

While the official cause of Hulk Hogan’s death was a heart attack, TMZ reports medical malpractice may have played a significant role. This report, if accurate, could open the door for a massive lawsuit.

According to a police report from the Clearwater PD, an occupational therapist was at Hogan’s home when he stopped breathing. The therapist reportedly told officers that Hogan was a victim of medical malpractice, claiming a surgeon had “severed” his phrenic nerve during a recent operation—it's still unclear if it was for his heart or neck. For those unfamiliar, the phrenic nerve is crucial as it controls the diaphragm and, by extension, breathing. The therapist's statements were allegedly captured on police body camera footage, which is now on "lockdown," but multiple sources have confirmed the contents of the report and the existence of the footage.

Hogan's wife, Sky, was the one who raised the alarm when he stopped breathing, leading to the 911 call. Meanwhile, Hogan's daughter, Brooke, has publicly called for an autopsy. We are told that as of a week ago, his body had not yet been cremated, but the family has not yet released any further information on whether that has changed.

The potential for a legal battle looms large, especially considering Hogan's past. He had previously sued a different medical clinic for $50 million over a botched back surgery that he claimed ruined his ability to earn a living. The case was eventually settled for an undisclosed amount. With his daughter pushing for an autopsy and the alleged body cam footage on file, this situation is far from over.

JOHN CENA'S FINAL MATCH SET FOR 12/13 SATURDAY NIGHT'S MAIN EVENT

Jonathan EscuderoComment

A new multi-year partnership between WWE and NBCUniversal will bring back the iconic "Saturday Night's Main Event" series, exclusively streaming live on Peacock.

The inaugural event is scheduled for November 1, with a special edition on December 13 to feature the highly-anticipated retirement match of John Cena.

This news comes on the heels of another major broadcasting deal, with WWE's Premium Live Events (PLEs) moving to ESPN's platforms beginning in September, ahead of the previously announced 2026 timeline.

While the location for Cena's final bout has not been officially announced, it is widely speculated that it will take place in his hometown of Boston.

WWE's Premium Live Events Headed to ESPN Early

Jonathan EscuderoComment

WWE's Premium Live Events (PLEs) are set to depart Peacock and find a new home on ESPN's direct-to-consumer (DTC) streaming service, a landmark move that will start earlier than originally announced. The transition will now begin with a new event titled "Wrestlepalooza" on September 20, 2025, from Indianapolis. The early departure from the Peacock deal, which was scheduled to run through early 2026, was not a buyout. Instead of a financial penalty, WWE will provide new main roster content to Peacock in exchange for being released from the remaining time on the contract.

The five-year agreement with ESPN is reportedly worth an average of $325 million per year, a substantial increase over the $180 million WWE received annually from Peacock. This 81% increase in average annual rights fees is a major financial win for WWE's parent company, TKO Group Holdings.

While WWE will continue to produce shows like Saturday Night's Main Event for NBC and SmackDown for USA Network, the move to ESPN signifies a major shift in how fans will access the company's biggest shows. The new ESPN DTC service, which will be the exclusive home for all WWE PLEs, is expected to cost $29.99 per month. This price point has sparked significant discussion among fans, as it's a considerable jump from Peacock's current subscription tiers, which are significantly cheaper. A major point of confusion for fans is whether those with an existing cable or satellite subscription that includes ESPN will be granted access to the DTC service at no extra cost, with reports indicating it may vary by provider.

ESPN's strategy is to use WWE's passionate fanbase to drive subscriptions for its new service. The company is hoping to replicate the success it has had with the UFC on ESPN+, and views WWE's PLEs as a way to avoid churn during traditionally slower sports months.

AEW Extends Danhausen's Contract For Injury Time

Jonathan EscuderoComment

All Elite Wrestling has reportedly extended the contract of popular wrestler Danhausen, a move that was reportedly made against his wishes. According to a report from Fightful Select, the decision was made due to time he missed from a significant pectoral muscle injury, pushing his deal from its original July 2025 expiration well into 2026.

The extension is tied to a clause in his contract related to time missed due to injury. Danhausen suffered a torn pectoral muscle in March 2023 at the Revolution pay-per-view, which sidelined him for over eight months. The Fightful report notes that it was believed Danhausen had asked the company to not pick up his option and was prepared to leave, reportedly due to a lack of consistent creative plans for his character since his return.

Known for his unique, "very nice, very evil" persona, Danhausen became a viral sensation on the independent circuit before signing with AEW in January 2022. Despite his considerable fan popularity and merchandise sales, he has had infrequent television appearances, with his last AEW match being at the Worlds End pay-per-view in December 2023. This contract extension will keep the fan-favorite under an AEW deal for the foreseeable future.

Dave Bautista Named Greatest Wrestler to Become an Actor

Jonathan EscuderoComment

According to a recently published list from The Hollywood Reporter, the top 10 greatest wrestlers to become actors are:

* Dave Bautista

* Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson

* John Cena

* "Rowdy" Roddy Piper

* Adam "Edge" Copeland

* Kevin Nash

* Hulk Hogan

* Paul "Big Show" White

* Jesse "The Body" Ventura

The list places Dave Bautista at the top, citing his diverse range and ability to take on complex, character-driven roles in films like Glass Onion, Blade Runner 2049, and Dune, rather than just relying on his action-hero persona.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and John Cena follow, with the article acknowledging their massive commercial success and comedic chops, respectively.

The list also gives a nod to wrestling legends of the past who paved the way, including "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, Jesse "The Body" Ventura, and André the Giant, who all had memorable and iconic roles that cemented their place in the conversation of wrestlers-turned-actors. The inclusion of names like Adam "Edge" Copeland and Kevin Nash highlights the continued crossover success of wrestlers into the acting world.

WWE's First Triplemania Breaks Records

Jonathan EscuderoComment

In a landmark moment for professional wrestling, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide's annual flagship event, Triplemanía XXXIII, shattered company records, signaling a new and prosperous chapter as the first Triplemanía since WWE's acquisition of the promotion. The show, which took place in Mexico City's Arena CDMX, drew a capacity crowd of 19,691 fans, marking the most-attended lucha libre event in Mexico this year and breaking the all-time AAA gate record.

The success wasn't limited to the live gate, as the event also set a new record for merchandise sales. The global reach of the new partnership was on full display as the show was streamed live on both WWE and AAA's YouTube channels in both Spanish and English, amassing more than 4.3 million views within its first 24 hours and hitting a peak live concurrent audience of 614,000.

Additionally, Triplemanía XXXIII generated a record 208 million views across WWE and AAA's social platforms, proving the immense demand and global appeal of the iconic lucha libre brand under its new ownership.

WWE's September 20th Event to be Named WrestlePalooza; May Air on ESPN

Jonathan EscuderoComment

WWE is reportedly set to revive the "WRESTLEPALOOZA" name for a premium live event on September 20, 2025. According to reports from WrestleVotes and PWInsider, the event, which has been rumored for some time, is a direct counter-programming effort against AEW's All Out, scheduled for the same night in Toronto.

This is the latest, and most aggressive, salvo in a rivalry that has intensified over the past few years. While the initial "Wednesday Night Wars" pitted WWE's developmental brand NXT against AEW's Dynamite, WWE has since used its NXT brand to go head-to-head with AEW's major pay-per-views. Examples include NXT Battleground against Double or Nothing in May 2025, and a multi-event "takeover" of Atlanta in July 2025, which included NXT Great American Bash against AEW's All In: Texas.

The decision to use a main roster Premium Live Event—potentially headlined by a high-profile match like Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena—marks a significant escalation. It forces fans to choose between two major shows and is a clear indicator that WWE is taking a more direct approach to competition.

In addition to the in-ring action, PWInsider reports that there is also talk that WRESTLEPALOOZA could air on ESPN, serving as a preview of the company's new broadcast partnership with the network, which begins in April 2026. This would further cement the event as a pivotal moment in the ongoing battle for wrestling supremacy.

Konosuke Takeshita Wins G1 Climax 35 Finals

Jonathan EscuderoComment

In a decisive victory at the G1 Climax 35 final, Konosuke Takeshita defeated EVIL, solidifying his status as a top competitor and earning a shot at the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. The match, which took place at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, capped off a grueling tournament that saw both men overcome significant challenges to reach the final.

Takeshita’s journey included a hard-fought semifinal victory over IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr., while EVIL advanced after a controversial referee stoppage win against Yota Tsuji, aided by his House of Torture stablemates. The final match was a physical and intense affair, with Takeshita showcasing his power and athleticism against the tactical and often nefarious style of EVIL.

The dynamics of the crowd at the G1 Climax 35 final were a point of intrigue throughout the event. While Konosuke Takeshita is widely respected for his in-ring talent, his dual contracts with both New Japan Pro-Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) created a subtle divide among the Japanese audience. As an international star who is also a significant presence in AEW, some fans viewed Takeshita as an "outsider" rather than a true NJPW homegrown talent.

This sentiment led to some surprising crowd reactions, with parts of the audience at times favoring EVIL, a heel who uses constant interference and underhanded tactics, over the clearly more heroic Takeshita. This complex fan response underscored the unique position Takeshita holds as a wrestler navigating the "forbidden door" between two major promotions, as he had to win over not just his opponent but also a portion of the crowd that was hesitant to fully embrace a champion with allegiances elsewhere.

Konosuke Takeshita and Evil Heading to the Finals of G1 Climax 35

Jonathan EscuderoComment

A shocking turn of events at the G1 Climax 35 semifinals saw Konosuke Takeshita defeat Zack Sabre Jr. to advance to the finals, where he'll face EVIL. Takeshita's victory is a monumental upset, given Sabre's status as the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion and his previous dominance over Takeshita in the tournament. This win sets up a compelling finale between two of New Japan Pro-Wrestling's biggest stars.

The Road to the Semifinals

The G1 Climax 35 tournament featured 20 competitors split into two blocks, A and B, all vying for a spot in the final four. After a grueling round-robin phase, the final playoff picture was set. EVIL emerged as the A Block winner with 12 points, followed by David Finlay with 10 points. Yota Tsuji, with 10 points, secured the third and final playoff spot from the A Block.

In the B Block, Zack Sabre Jr. finished at the top with an impressive 14 points, securing a bye directly into the semifinals. The other B Block playoff spots went to Shota Umino and Konosuke Takeshita, who both finished with 12 points.

The playoffs began with two high-stakes quarterfinal matches. In the first, Konosuke Takeshita defeated David Finlay in a brutal, table-smashing encounter. Takeshita's perseverance was tested when Finlay powerbombed him through two tables on the arena floor, but he managed to beat the 20-count and rally for the victory. In the second quarterfinal, Yota Tsuji overcame Shota Umino in a hard-fought battle, earning his semifinal spot against EVIL.

The semifinal match between Konosuke Takeshita and Zack Sabre Jr. was a clash of styles, pitting Takeshita's high-impact offense against Sabre's technical wizardry. Takeshita came into the match with an aggravated knee injury, a direct result of his brutal quarterfinal bout with Finlay. This was a crucial factor, as Sabre relentlessly targeted the knee throughout the match, employing a variety of brutal submission holds.

The match was a back-and-forth affair with both men showing incredible resilience. Takeshita, despite his injury, managed to hit his signature moves, including a Poison Rana and the Power Drive running knee. However, it was a previous meeting in the G1 that was fresh on everyone's mind, where Sabre defeated Takeshita via submission. This time, Takeshita was determined to not let history repeat itself.

In the closing moments, Takeshita's power proved to be the difference. He fought through the pain and the submissions, finally landing his finisher, the Raging Fire, to put an end to the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion's G1 run. The crowd erupted as the referee's hand hit the mat for the final time, sealing Takeshita's first-ever G1 final appearance.

Takeshita's monumental victory not only avenged his previous loss to Sabre but also established him as a serious contender for the G1 Climax trophy. The stage is now set for a final showdown against the leader of the House of Torture, EVIL, in what promises to be an explosive main event to determine the winner of the G1 Climax 35. 🏆

Liv Morgan Injury Update

Jonathan EscuderoComment

An article by Mike Johnson of PWInsider Elite has provided an update on the recovery of WWE Superstar Liv Morgan. According to the report, Morgan was scheduled for a medical evaluation this week to assess the progress of her separated shoulder, though she was not present at the recent episode of Raw as some had anticipated. The internal hope is that if her recovery remains on track, Morgan could make her return to the ring by early 2026.

This injury occurred during a June 2025 match on Raw against Kairi Sane. In the opening moments of the bout, Morgan landed awkwardly on her shoulder after a takedown from Sane. She immediately rolled out of the ring, visibly in pain and clutching her arm, and was escorted to the back by medical personnel. The match was stopped and Sane was awarded the win.

A separated shoulder, medically known as an AC joint sprain, occurs when the ligaments connecting the collarbone and the shoulder blade are stretched or torn.

Recovery time can vary significantly depending on the severity of the separation, but a serious injury like Morgan's can often require surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation process.

This isn't the first time Morgan has dealt with a shoulder issue, as she suffered a similar injury in 2023 that kept her out of action for approximately six months.

WWE/TNA DEAL INCLUDES OPTION TO BUY AND FIRST RIGHT TO REFUSE ANY OTHER OFFERS

WWEJonathan EscuderoComment

Recent developments in the professional wrestling world have brought the relationship between WWE and TNA (Total Nonstop Action) back into the spotlight. A report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests that WWE has an option to purchase TNA and the right of first refusal to match any other offers. This means that if TNA were to be sold, WWE could step in and acquire the company. The report suggests that this provision is a way for WWE to ensure that any potential buyer of TNA would be "friendly" to their interests, as they wouldn't be able to turn the company into a profitable competitor.

The idea is that a new owner would secure a media rights deal, turning the company from a money-loser into a turnkey profitable company. However, if they were to compete with WWE, the deal wouldn't happen.

This move comes after the formation of TKO Group Holdings, a company created by the merger of WWE and UFC under the umbrella of Endeavor. This merger has given WWE an even larger presence in the sports and entertainment landscape. Endeavor, with its vast portfolio of media and talent management, now has a controlling stake in a company that includes both of the world's most valuable combat sports organizations.

There are also rumors swirling about a potential purchase of TNA by Lorenzo Fertitta, a former UFC head honcho. His name has emerged in recent meetings, and his past connection to the UFC, which is now part of TKO, adds another layer to this story. Fertitta and his brother Frank, along with Dana White, built the UFC into a global powerhouse before selling it to Endeavor. This history makes his potential involvement in a TNA acquisition particularly interesting, as he would have deep connections to the same company that now controls WWE.

The moves by WWE and TKO, while strategic for business growth, have raised questions about antitrust and monopoly laws. A smaller wrestling promotion, Major League Wrestling (MLW), has a pending antitrust lawsuit against WWE. MLW's lawsuit alleges that WWE has monopoly power and has used it to interfere with MLW's media rights deals and its ability to book venues. Court documents have revealed that a WWE executive spoke with a streaming service executive on the day before a deal with MLW was set to be announced, which MLW claims led to the deal falling apart. The claim is that WWE controls over 90% of the wrestling media rights revenue. These legal battles highlight the concerns that WWE's dominant position could stifle competition and prevent smaller promotions from growing. The possibility of WWE acquiring TNA through a right of first refusal would only fuel these concerns, as it would effectively prevent a strong competitor from emerging.

TNA, a company that has had an up-and-down history, has recently found a collaborative relationship with WWE. In 2024, the two companies announced a multiyear partnership that allows for talent crossovers between NXT and TNA. This has been a mutually beneficial arrangement, providing exposure to both rosters and giving fans unique viewing experiences. However, the existence of a potential purchase option for WWE suggests that this partnership could be a precursor to a full-on acquisition, solidifying WWE's place as the undisputed leader in professional wrestling.

RUMOR: Former UFC Owner Looking To Purchase TNA Wrestling

Jonathan EscuderoComment

There are increasing whispers within the wrestling industry that former UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta could be in talks regarding a potential sale of TNA Wrestling. The rumors gained traction after a report from Fightful and an enigmatic social media post from wrestling personality Conrad Thompson, who simply posted a GIF of a man saying "Lorenzo!" in response to the growing speculation. Fertitta, who sold the UFC to Endeavor in 2016, is a significant figure in combat sports and has long-standing business ties with current UFC President Dana White.

The UFC is now part of TKO Group Holdings, a publicly traded company that also houses WWE, a promotion TNA Wrestling recently partnered with for crossover opportunities. TNA's current owner is Anthem Sports & Entertainment, a Canadian media company. While no official confirmation has been made, the rumblings suggest that a major shakeup could be on the horizon for the company.

WWE Looking to Help TNA Wrestling Move to a WWE Affiliated Network: To Compete With AEW on Wednesday Nights

WWEJonathan EscuderoComment

In a move that could once again shift the landscape of professional wrestling, Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling is reportedly considering a seismic shift in its programming schedule.1 As part of ongoing media rights discussions, TNA is contemplating a move to Wednesday nights, a move that would place it in direct competition with All Elite Wrestling's (AEW) flagship show, "Dynamite."2 This potential move is not just a simple scheduling change; it's a strategic maneuver that carries with it the undertones of a larger power play, with speculation swirling about the involvement of WWE in this decision.

The news, initially reported by Sports Illustrated, suggests that TNA is in deep discussions with several platforms, with The CW and A&E emerging as potential suitors.3 The CW, which currently airs WWE's developmental brand NXT, is of particular interest.4 Sources indicate that The CW has a legitimate interest in TNA, and that some influential figures within WWE are supportive of TNA making the move to their network partner.5 While TNA President Carlos Silva has remained tight-lipped, not denying the rumors, he has stated that any decision made will be in the "best interests" of TNA, rather than a direct act of competition.6

However, this potential move is being viewed by many within the wrestling community as the latest chapter in WWE's ongoing efforts to counter-program and stifle the growth of AEW. This is not the first time WWE has made a strategic move to compete directly with AEW. When AEW launched "Dynamite" on Wednesday nights in 2019, WWE responded by moving its NXT brand from the WWE Network to the USA Network, airing live in the same time slot.7 This period, dubbed the "Wednesday Night War," saw both promotions vie for viewership in a head-to-head battle. Ultimately, NXT moved to Tuesday nights, a move that was seen by many as a concession to AEW's consistent ratings victories in the key demographics.8

Beyond the "Wednesday Night War," WWE has continued to employ counter-programming tactics.9 The company has scheduled its Premium Live Events (PLEs) on the same day as major AEW pay-per-views.10 For instance, NXT's "Great American Bash" was scheduled to run concurrently with AEW's "All In," one of AEW's biggest shows of the year.11 In another instance, a main roster WWE PLE was scheduled for the same day as AEW's "All Out."12 There are also reports of WWE considering a major event, possibly featuring John Cena, to counter-program AEW's "Worlds End" pay-per-view.13

The motivation behind these moves, according to industry observers, is to disrupt AEW's momentum and potentially impact their next television rights deal. By creating a more competitive landscape and presenting an alternative for wrestling fans, the thinking goes, WWE can potentially devalue AEW's product in the eyes of television executives. The potential move of TNA to Wednesday nights, especially with the rumored backing of WWE, is seen as a continuation of this strategy, a proxy war in the ongoing battle for supremacy in the world of professional wrestling. Whether this move will ultimately benefit TNA and what the ramifications will be for the wrestling industry as a whole remains to be seen.
