Roblox Faces Multiple Lawsuits, Including One for Allegedly Retaliating Against a Child Abuse Survivor

ComicBook CliqueComment

Roblox is at the center of a growing legal storm, facing multiple lawsuits that allege the company has created an environment where child predators can thrive. One of the most prominent cases involves a child abuse survivor, known as "Schlep," who claims the company retaliated against him after he exposed predators on the platform.

According to a press release, Schlep, who was groomed on Roblox as a teenager, dedicated himself to identifying and helping to arrest predators, which reportedly led to six confirmed arrests. In response, Roblox allegedly issued a cease-and-desist letter and banned his account. The company claims his methods violated its Terms of Service and could have interfered with official investigations. Schlep is now represented by the law firms SGGH and Milberg.

Beyond a Single Case

It's important to note that this is not an isolated incident. My research indicates that a number of other lawsuits have been filed against Roblox, often in conjunction with the chat platform Discord. These lawsuits, brought by firms like Anapol Weiss and Dolman Law Group, allege a pattern of systemic negligence on the part of Roblox. They claim the platform's design makes it easy for adults to contact and groom minors, a vulnerability the company has allegedly failed to address despite being aware of it.

The Chris Hansen Connection

While initial reports suggested Chris Hansen was involved in a documentary on the matter, a closer look at the available information reveals a more nuanced connection. While Hansen’s name is associated with the ongoing public interest in the case, particularly through the viral #FreeSchlep movement, there is no confirmed documentary release from him at this time. It appears that some of Schlep's own videos have used a style similar to Hansen’s show, leading to the confusion.

In short, the controversy surrounding Roblox extends far beyond a single case, encompassing multiple lawsuits and a growing public debate over the company’s responsibility to protect its youngest users.
