Big E Gives Update On Neck Scans, 2 Years After Injury

Nicholas LaroccoComment

Former WWE Champion Big E updated fans on his 2-year neck scan results on Twitter/X.

“Hey, all!

Two year neck scans are in. Things are unchanged. My C1 has healed fibrously but has not formed new bone. I’m not medically cleared and truthfully, I may never be cleared. But I am blessed to be free of pain, immensely happy and otherwise healthy. Life is good.”

On the March 11, 2022 episode of WWE SmackDown, Big E suffered a broken neck following a belly-to-belly suplex from Ridge Holland outside the ring during a tag-team match that saw Big E and Kofi Kingston take on Ridge Holland and Sheamus.

Following his injury, Big E continues to make public appearances and have non-wrestling roles for WWE, such as pre-show panelist. He also appears frequently on WWE’s social media live streams, including throughout WrestleMania XL weekend.

KENNY OMEGA SPEAKS ON CM PUNK AND BRAWL OUT INCIDENT

Jonathan EscuderoComment

Kenny Omega finally spoke on CM Punk and his involvement with the 2022 Brawl Out incident in AEW during a Twitch stream. He believes that sometimes fighting can be healthy in contact sports.

"Just because I represent a company or because I am an employee at one company over another, does that mean I love every storyline? Does that mean that I agree with every decision? No, of course not. I’m not the booker. I don’t have power, I haven’t had power for more than four years now in that company and I know that’s gonna sound odd because like, well Kenny, you’re an EVP. I’m nothing. I am nothing, and I’ll tell you why, it’s because I’m a terrible EVP. I don’t deserve to be an EVP. If people wanna ask for my advice, I’ll do my best to help them. If there’s a fire to put out backstage, I’m gonna do my best to be that person. But, if we go back and I don’t want to have to comment on it, but I’ll do it, just because it adds context to it.

I thought my duty as an EVP during Brawl Out would be to enter the situation while there was chaos, de-escalate it and create a peaceful environment for everyone. I was able to create a peaceful environment for most important person in that altercation and that was Larry and I swear to God, honestly, that was my biggest — and that sounds funny but, I look at animals and our pets as people and Dobby of course (Omega’s cat), one of the most important people in my life. So, to get little Larry out of there was the most important thing to me and that was a success. Unfortunately, try as I may, things were too chaotic for me to be able to do anything on my own power… I believe it was in that instance when I realized that the way that I wanted to go about things wasn’t necessarily the way that other people wanted to, was also the way that other people necessarily didn’t want to and then it was also maybe not the way that the boss wanted to take care of it and I also thought of myself as a liability because I am, I don't wanna say old school, I’m not old school.

I just played a lot of contact sports and I’ve gotten into jiu-jitsu and boxing and mixed martial arts. I just know that sometimes, when you perform or when you fight, when everything’s on the line, when you give your heart, when you give your soul towards something and you’re in that moment of high stress or high anxiety where you’ve maybe emptied the tank and you’re just physically exhausted. But when you’re in an environment like that, sometimes emotions get the best of you and people will wanna throw hands… and I am unfortunately or fortunately a believer of it. I think if it’s decided, hey, this is the best way to solve things and you can shake hands after and move on after, I’m actually a believer of fighting.

Sometimes, and I don’t mean you have to settle it and then it has to be shown on-screen to everyone or people have to brag online about who won, who lost. No, it’s not for that purpose. It’s for the purpose of just getting that stuff out that you need to get out, and I’ll admit, there were a number of times, even now with me, where I thought that-that might have been the most appropriate answer. It never came to that. We were able to talk things out and we became better friends and there was a level of respect at that point on between myself and these other parties and maybe I’ll share these stories later. It’s crazy.

As much as I’ll believe in cooler heads prevailing, sitting down and talking, sometimes there’s just like, hey, I can’t even think straight until I start throwing some hay, you know? Or maybe that I need to be smacked on a little bit, whatever the case might be. I think if it’s a contained scenario and if it’s not a situation where, you know, there’s pulling people’s eyeballs out, low blows, hair-pulling or scratching, you know what I mean? If it’s just like, hey, let’s just hang and bang a little bit. I can see it sometimes being conducive for a positive work environment.

Again, this is exactly why I have no power nor should I. So, that’s just how I feel and I’m gonna leave it at that.”

He then addressed his current relationship with CM Punk.

"Status with CM Punk right now? Um, I don’t know. It’s just mutual respect. We reached out to each other… I can’t really think of anyone that I dislike or have an issue with, especially an issue with wrestling… It’s not like, hey, we’re good now. It’s we were never bad. Honestly, if it weren’t for a complete other factor, we would have been able to have that talk on the night of Brawl Out. There’s no issue between him and I, as far I know. I don’t think there is at all.

That’s another thing too guys. I don’t wanna seem standoffish or secretive about what happened. Yes, there’s legalities and all that stuff but even if there wasn’t, and I know this is gonna sound weird because I’ve done a lot of comedy stuff in wrestling, but like, I’m actually not a huge fan of pulling back the curtain on stuff that doesn’t need to be out in public… If for whatever reasons, guys were to fight or whatever, it’s not for the public to know. That’s just for them to air out their stuff to get it out of their system. That’s all I mean."

UPDATE ON CODY RHODES VS THE ROCK

Jonathan EscuderoComment

Recent insights into Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's potential return to the WWE ring for WrestleMania have shed light on the intricacies of a long-term plan that could reshape the wrestling landscape.

According to a report from the Wrestling Observer, there is no set date for The Rock's return to the squared circle, but discussions have centered around a WrestleMania appearance next year.

Initially, The Rock expressed interest in facing Roman Reigns, but circumstances have shifted, making a singles title match against Cody Rhodes the more enticing option for now.

The prospect of The Rock working a match later this year is still possible but not guaranteed, since there's a preference for him to headline WrestleMania with Rhodes in the main event next year.

The Rock's influence within WWE suggests that his desires often shape the direction of storylines, potentially locking Rhodes in for a lengthy title reign.

There are currently no firm plans regarding the duration of Cody Rhodes' WWE Championship reign. The Rock left it open for their inevitable showdown to be a non-title match if necessary.

The Rock has also hinted at potentially defending the "people's belt", setting the stage for a belt vs. belt showdown between the two iconic figures.

The idea of a one-year build leading up to WrestleMania holds particular appeal for The Rock, reminiscent of the storyline leading into his match against John Cena. As well as a storyline he wanted to do with Brock Lesnar after Wrestlemania 29. However, unforeseen circumstances, including an injury and scheduling conflicts, derailed those plans.

As the storyline unfolds and negotiations progress, wrestling fans can expect a strategic and meticulously crafted buildup towards what promises to be a monumental clash between The Rock and Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania, reshaping the landscape of WWE for years to come.

Rocking the Boat: Wrestling's PG Era Faces Off Against Dwayne Johnson's Influence

Jonathan EscuderoComment

In a recent development within the wrestling world, there's been a noticeable shift away from the previously mandated PG content, with Dwayne Johnson, also known as The Rock, leading the charge. Despite earlier directives for talent to adhere to a PG standard, it seems that Johnson's influence has opened the door for more freedom of expression among top talent.

Notably, during Paul Heyman's Hall of Fame speech, he uttered a phrase that, while bleeped out, wouldn't have been allowed just a short while ago.

This trend extends to figures like Cody Rhodes and C.M. Punk, who have been able to express themselves in ways previously restricted. The evolution towards edgier content has been ongoing for some time, becoming particularly evident in recent months, coinciding with a shift towards a younger television audience.

This strategic move appears to be paying off from a business perspective, with increased viewership indicating its effectiveness. However, there remains a delicate balance between attracting a younger demographic and maintaining sponsor approval. While The Rock may not have complete autonomy, his considerable influence suggests a significant degree of creative freedom within the industry.

Adam Copeland Responds to CM Punk's Appearance on MMA Hour: "I don't really care what anybody really has to say."

Jonathan EscuderoComment

In a conversation with Mo Amir on CHEK VANCOLOUR, Copeland revealed that he hadn't watched CM Punk's interview on the MMA Hour.

"I didn't, no. I just saw clips. I have better things to do. I really do. I have kids. I don't really care what anybody really has to say."

Despite not tuning in, Copeland acknowledged the importance of delivering a positive message to the wrestling locker room, especially given its young demographic.

"However, what I will say is, from the small clips, I realized that our locker room needed a good message. So, last week, I went out and spoke to that. It's a young locker room, and it's a young locker room that, for me, because it's a different time, we try to support each other. I came in to locker rooms where it was everybody for themselves and it was a bunch of great whites.”

He emphasized the need for support and positivity, contrasting it with past experiences in locker rooms that fostered a more cutthroat environment.

Copeland stressed his commitment to the philosophy of helping others, citing Bret Hart's influence, and highlighted the significance of focusing on the positives amidst the negativity in the world. He concluded by reaffirming his dedication to spreading positivity and expressed his priorities, including putting his kids to bed and watching the Maple Leafs.

“I always subscribed to the Bret Hart school of, 'You can help.' You can help young people and try and be positive and show that you don't have to be a dick. I don't know how else to put it. For me, I try to focus on the positives. There are so many negatives in the world today. They are both there to find. Why not look for the positives? For me, our young locker room needed to hear the positives. That's why I went out and did what I did last week. I don't need to search out the other stuff. I have better things to do, I have kids to put to bed. I have the Maple Leafs to watch,"

The wrestler revealed that he's currently recuperating from both a shoulder and elbow injury sustained late last year. However, he expressed optimism about his recovery process, stating that he underwent treatment in late January and is now focusing on rehabilitation with the intention of returning to the ring stronger than before.

“I have a shoulder injury and an elbow injury that occurred late last year, so finally took care of it late January. Got a whole bunch of shots and now I'm recovering, rehabbing, and come back stronger than ever.”

In addition to discussing his injury, Miro also shared his thoughts on working with Tony Khan, the CEO of All Elite Wrestling (AEW). According to Miro, Khan is a creative individual with a deep passion for wrestling. He commended Khan's constant drive to improve and innovate within the industry, highlighting his lifelong dedication to the sport. Miro's remarks underscored his respect and admiration for Khan's leadership, acknowledging his significant contributions to AEW's growth and success.

“Tony's great, man. He's creative, his mind is running always, he always thinks about wrestling, he's always thinking about how to get things better. So I respect that. I respect that he loves wrestling - he did all his life. And now he's carried that to the second or one of the biggest companies in the world.”
