The next cinematic vision from Jordan Peele is facing a new delay, as Universal Pictures has officially removed the acclaimed director's fourth feature film from its release calendar.
According to a report from World of Reel, the untitled project, which had been scheduled for an October 23, 2026 release, is now undated, leaving the film's future in limbo. This development marks the latest shift for the highly anticipated movie.
Peele’s next film was originally slated for a Christmas 2024 release before that project was reportedly abandoned following industry-wide strike delays, with a new concept taking its place and targeting the 2026 date.
Now, sources suggest that Peele may have also moved on from that second idea and was brainstorming a completely new direction as recently as this summer. One insider noted that Peele himself may not have settled on what the film will be, a common occurrence for a meticulous filmmaker but one that makes a 2026 release target increasingly unlikely.
Peele, through his Monkeypaw Productions banner, has a strong partnership with Universal, which distributed his massively successful directorial efforts Get Out, Us, and Nope.
While fans will have to wait longer to see what he creates next, the delay only builds anticipation for the next chapter from one of modern horror's most celebrated voices.
