Z*E*R*O plan an attack on the X-Men’s HQ. Will is be successful? Or will they get stopped in their tracks?
*SPOILER WARNING AHEAD!*
TIME FOR REVENGE:
O*N*E soldiers gather. A group of mercenaries working under the radar. A dangerous group looking for revenge on the people who took a loved one from them. Mutants.
Knowing that the X-Men are on a mission, they think this is a great time to strike against their HQ.
Waiting in that HQ are John Greycrow and Xorn. Greycrow is super concerned about Psylocke, but Xorn is trying to tell him that she can take care of herself very well and he doesn't need to worry.
Then, the lights go out.
The attack is underway, and boy, this new group calling themselves Z*E*R*O has now stepped into the wrong warehouse.
John Greycrow takes this opportunity to hunt down each of these soldiers who are trespassing. These aren't dumb people, though; they've been able to take a pivotal part to the building's power out and are moving on to the next part of their mission.
Sadly for them, John Greycrow has another idea in mind as he slaughters all of them in his way absolutely brutally.
Watching Greycrow getting covered in his enemies’ blood while impaling them to walls definitely gives me some vintage Wolverine vibes. The brutality he shows in his issue is phenomenal. As he said, it's maybe the edge that the X-Men need on their team.
When Greycrow sees the medical room where Blob is laying unconscious, he tells Xorn how brutal that room looks after the damage he did. But Xorn tells him that he was never in that room?
Let me tell you, the devastation that Blob left in this room after waking up to a gun pointed at his face is something to behold. Something straight out of a slasher movie. My words won't do it justice.
CONCLUSION
Looking back now, these little filler issues have taken a chance on highlighting some characters people may not be familiar with. And boy, oh boy, this issue makes John Greycrow the coolest S.O.B. in the room.
I really hope he sticks on this team going forward, as they teased; this team really does need that loose cannon type of character that can get stuff done permanently.
If you know what I mean.
And Blob?! Whoa, Blob, absolutely RUTHLESS. Who needs the Midnight Universe when regular universe Blob is this scary? Very shocking, but I loved it.
This was a fun side issue, and one that appears to maybe matter in the long run? We'll have to wait and see.
