Victor Wembanyama is here to stay in San Antonio and made sure of that with his recent extension with the Spurs that ensures he will remain in the Alamo City for the next five years.
This past season, Wembanyama entered his third season in the NBA and dominated in just about every category, from offense to defense, he was on top of it all, alongside his cast of teammates, they would be a top three team in the West and pushed themselves all the way to the NBA Finals for the first time in over ten years.
Despite coming up short in the Finals against the New York Knicks, Wembanyama’s stock rose through the clouds once again and he proved to be the piece of the puzzle that they needed to shake up Minnesota and prevent Oklahoma City from getting back-to-back championships after the franchise won their first ring in 2025.
Now, Wembanyama gets a massive $252 million maximum rookie-scale contract extension with San Antonio, plus with the recent moves the team has made to acquire Tobias Harris and keep huge game changing pieces this year like Julian Champagnie who was a big help when it came to making it deep into the NBA’s 2026 postseason.
This was first reported by ESPN’s NBA Insider Shams Charania.
With revenge on his mind, San Antonio should be full of joy with the Alien remaining on the Spurs for the next five years and the hope that he can bring them their first championship since Tim Duncan and Kawhi Leonard were a duo in the Alamo City.
