With Black Canary tracking any all all leads to the recently deceased Oliver Queen, things are getting messy. People are dying, leads are missing, and now Black Canary needs to handle Hammond's recent test subject. SOLOMON GRUNDY.
*Absolute Green Arrow #2-4 SPOILERS ahead!*
DEFEATING A LARGE OBSTACLE":
A beast incarnate is placed in front of Dinah. And she leaps into action this issue with ease. Latching onto Grundy's neck and and successfully blasting a few holes in his head and body before moving onto her goal of getting to the bottom of this Hammond conspiracy.
Bodies. Bodies are just absolutely everywhere in this building, and she can barely keep in her lunch when she sees it all.
Hammond is talking to Edvin Zytle, a tester who is this horrible looking zombie-like scientist. He reveals to Hammond a recent test, a man with 8 arms, looking like a human spider.
But while he's distracted Dinah makes her move, pistol whipping Hammond and keeping him on the ground for enough time to ask about Miraclo. A cellular tissue that is being used in these tests to bring humans back to life. Similar to what we know with the Lazarus pit in the mainline universe.
When Dinah claims that Oliver is ten times the man Hammond would be, he begins to recollect on the way he remembered Oliver. A man protecting his friend at whatever cost. Even if that friend was seen by others as not worth helping. His mindset kept him away from the greatness he could reach, of being a pivotal person. Including having the potential to be the President if he wanted.
Hammond says that he never wanted Oliver Queen dead. He saw Oliver as one of them. But if she is curious, he will show her where Oliver is. Because they have him here.
But its worse than you think. Oliver Queen is diced up like a tomato in different pieces on a table. Before Dinah can wrap her head around this all, Hammond calls for Grundy to be revived and kill her.
Grundy rises up from the ground. Rebuilding himself and coming back to life in an even more horrifying manner.
Luckily Green Arrow is here. And now him and Dinah are on the same side.
The fight becomes too much, Dinah's migraines begin acting up again. What are these migraines? I have a few guesses. I believe her banshee scream powers are beginning to develop. God help whoever is on the other side of her first ever scream.
Some horrible things unfold here. Hammond wants revenge this issue. Green Arrow took his hand a few issues ago and he wants to see Green Arrow experience the same fate. Which Grundy obliges and succeeds in doing to end this issue.
CONCLUSION:
Body horror and gore galore!
After what Dinah has been through these recent issues, seeing her fight alongside this Green Arrow is nice to see. She's finally seeing through Hammond's BS and is taking a stand. But the reason behind this all is just horrible. Immoral testing of living humans and cobbling together human parts to create these horrifying horror movie level creatures. Absolute Green Arrow give you the fear of a horror movie, all wrapped in the exciting Absolute Universe. Its so hard to talk about this book to people without spoiling things.
But man, Absolute Green Arrow is just a genuinely great read through every month. And if you're not dying to figure out who Green Arrow actually is, then you must not have a pulse.
