BREAKING: DC's "Power Company" is BACK!

Alex GarciaComment

This April marks the return of Josiah Power and a new iteration of The Power Company to DC All In with The Power Company: Recharged, and DC is revealing a first look at interior art from issue #1 by Khary Randolph and Alitha Martinez. This DC All In one-shot not only features the return of writer Hill to DC and the return of Josiah Power but brings together a collection of DC Super Heroes – Batman (Jace Fox), Vixen, and Duke Thomas, aka The Signal – to join Black Lightning in fighting anti-metahuman sentiment at the street level (thanks to Amanda Waller and Absolute Power).

Spinning out of the events of Black Lightning and DC Power: Rise of the Power Company, Josiah Power and Jefferson Pierce lead the newest iteration of the Power Company with a new purpose of rebuilding humanity’s faith in heroes and fighting back against the rising anti-metahuman movement that Amanda Waller instigated in DC’s Absolute Power.

Bryan Edward Hill makes his return to DC comics. He recently revitalized Blade for Marvel and is doing a stellar job on Ultimate Black Panther. He brings his talent back to DC to raise the bar for these great heroes. Bryan did a fantastic job with Batman and the Outsiders and now he's back to tackle more characters on the edge of greatness. DC has been ALL IN on many of its heroes in this current era and we cannot wait to see how he elevates these heroes to a new level of prominence and recognition.

For their first mission the Company dispatches Batman (Jace Fox), The Signal, and Vixen to investigate a serial killer that’s been hunting metahumans in the streets of Atlanta.

BREAKING: DC Comics Announces New Superman ANTHOLOGY Series

George SerranoComment

Superman: The World: a Celebrated Lineup of International Storytellers Pay Tribute to DC’s Man of Steel in a Commemorative Hardcover Collection

Burbank, CA, (March 31, 2025) – Since his origin in 1938, Superman has become a symbol of truth and justice, and a true worldwide pop culture icon. Today DC announced talent and story details on Superman: The World, a 208-page hardcover collecting original stories celebrating Superman from a variety of international and cultural perspectives. Superman: The World arrives in participating comic book shops, booksellers, and mass market retailers and e-tailers Wednesday, June 25, and launches day and date in the following countries: Argentina (Ovni Press); Bosnia, Montenegro, and Serbia (Carobna); Brazil (Panini); Cameroon (Zebra Comics); the Czech and Slovak Republics (Crew); France (Urban Comics); Germany (Panini); India (DC/Penguin Random House); Italy (Panini); Japan (Kodansha); Mexico (Panini); Poland (Story House Egmont); Spain (Panini); and Turkey (JBC).

“Let Slip the Dogs of War,” by Dan Jurgens and Lee Weeks (North America)

When a giant alien of unknown origin attacks Metropolis, the immediate response is a massive military strike that would eradicate the threat as well as the city itself. Dan Jurgens (Action Comics, Superman) and Lee Weeks (Superman: Lois and Clark, Batman/Catwoman) deliver a story in which Superman is challenged by an extraterrestrial threat and his own government’s worst instincts. It’s a singularly unique challenge for the Man of Steel, who finds himself trapped between two tough choices with little time to find a solution.

“The Last Seed of Krypton,” by Mauro Mantella and Agustín Alessio (Argentina)

Writer Mantella and artist Alessio book a trip for the Man of Steel to Argentina, where, in search of a story as Clark Kent and a potential threat as Superman, he encounters an ancient menace with ties to his past—one that threatens the entire planet and forces him to reconsider his very essence and biology.

“The Red Mantle,” by Jefferson Costa (Brazil)

In this story by writer/artist Costa, Clark Kent is in Brazil conducting a series of interviews following the opening of an exhibition at the national museum marking the return and restitution of the Tupinambá red cape, repatriated to Brazilian territory after 400 years. Clark is intrigued and enthusiastic about the history of the artifact, which holds such strong and significant symbolism, representing the cultural revival of a people, memory, and ancestry—a symbolism very similar to his own red cape. When the Tupinambá cloak disappears from the museum, Superman goes into action, determined to recover it.

“Chariot of the Gods,” by Dr. Ejob Gaius, E.N. Ejob, and Coeurtys Minko (Cameroon)

Following their groundbreaking story in Joker: The World, the Zebra Comics team of writer Gaius and artists Ejob  and Minko tell their own unique story spotlighting the Man of Steel. Superman faces an unusual culture shock as his noble intentions lead to unforeseen consequences. Through this eye-opening journey, he discovers the profound importance of understanding and respecting cultural differences, adding to what it truly means to be a hero for the world.

“If Nihilism Is the Answer, What Was the Question?,” by Štěpán Kopřiva and Michal Suchánek  (Czech and Slovak Republics)

Superman has always been a symbol of hope, but what happens when he encounters a community that doesn’t believe in hope? The Czech storytelling team of writer Kopřiva and artist Suchánek put this question to the Man of Steel when, in the distant future, he encounters “Prague,” a Czech space station with a single occupant, one who believes in absolutely nothing—order, values, hope—nor in the meaning of it all.

“Superman in Paris,” by Sylvain Runberg, Marcial Toledano Vargas, and José Manuel Robledo (France)

This short story by writer Runberg (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo/Millenium, Warship Jolly Roger, Under York) and artists Toledano Vargas (Ken Games, Dominants) and Robledo (Tebori) tells the tale of how Lois Lane and Clark Kent hope to escape their daily adventures for a brief getaway to Paris, the City of Lights. But there’s something lurking in the depths of the Seine River that may interrupt their romantic interlude.

“Man of Kruppstahl,” by Flix (Felix Görmann) (Germany)

In his unique style, award-winning writer/artist Flix (Spirou, The Humboldt Animal) tells a nostalgic and charming story from Superman’s past in which the Man of Steel thwarts the machinations of a villain in postwar Germany.

“To Be a Hero,” by Rana Daggubati and Sid Kotian (India)

In this story by Daggubati and Kotian, Clark Kent is covering a story in India and meets a woman studying history. They’re approached by a young boy, looking for help. It’s up to Superman to keep bandits from pillaging his local temple of its statues and artifacts.

“Superman’s Inferno,” by Fabio Celoni and Marco Nucci (Italy)

Acclaimed Italian comics creators Nucci and Celoni celebrate the incredible narrative of the Last Son of Krypton in this short story. In 2021, Clark Kent and Lois Lane are in the home city of the Sommo Poeta (the Supreme Poet), Dante Alighieri, on the 700th anniversary of his death. Suddenly, the earth splits open, with Lois and some bystanders swallowed up in a chasm that seems to lead directly to Hell. Superman’s only hope against the armies of Lucifer is tied to a formula seen in Dante’s visions that has been lost forever!

“Superman vs. Convenience-Store Dining Space,” by Satoshi Miyagawa and Kai Kitago (Japan)

DC and Kodansha will include an excerpt from the popular DC manga Superman vs. Meshi, by Miyagawa and Kitago, readable in Western style (left to right).

“Superman: The Left of the Hummingbird,” by Bef (Bernardo Fernández) (Mexico)

When Clark Kent visits Mexico for a simple news story, Superman ends up in a battle against the Aztec gods in this story by writer/artist Bef.

“Marzanna,” by Bartosz Sztybor and Marek Oleksicki (Poland)

Writer Sztybor and artist Oleksicki bring the Man of Steel to Warsaw, where an investigative assignment takes an unexpected turn. As Clark Kent delves into the local tradition of drowning the Marzanna effigy, he uncovers a chilling mystery tied to ancient legends and a looming threat over the city. In a race against time, Superman must confront forces beyond imagination to protect the people of Warsaw and prove that hope is the greatest power of all.

“My Choice, Protecting the Light,” by Stevan Subic (Serbia)

Storyteller Subic (The Riddler: Year One, Batman: Full Moon) both writes and draws this Superman story. After a big cosmic fight, recovering under the sun, Superman hears a faint cry for help coming from a town in Serbia, the only place on Earth that has Kryptonite, whose guardians are keeping the stash secure from anyone who might want to get their hands on it. A not-fully-healed Superman faces the challenge of helping the people protecting him from the substance most deadly to him while a deadly cosmic adversary pulls out all the stops to claim the hoard of Kryptonite.

“Superman in Granada,” by Jorge Jiménez and Alejandro Sánchez (Spain)

This short story, written and illustrated by Jorge Jiménez (Batman, Superman, Justice League, Super Sons) with colors by Alejandro Sánchez (Superman, Super Sons, Justice League), tells of how, after once again saving Earth from the imminent impact of a meteorite, Superman falls powerlessly into the Alhambra in Granada, Spain. Aware that his powers could return at any moment, he chooses to wander through the city in his costume like any other human and discover the beauty and culture Granada has to offer.

“The Hero and the Bull,” by Ethem Onur Bilgiç (Turkey)

Writer/illustrator/graphic designer Ethem Onur Bilgiç takes Clark Kent and Lois Lane to Istanbul to cover an archaeological symposium. They meet a scientist who introduces them to the rituals associated with celebrating the pagan deity Mithras, leading Clark and Lois to an unexpected encounter.

What a huge amount of international talent!

Alex GarciaComment

Peacemaker fans rejoice! A comic based on and set in the Universe of DC’s Peacemaker on MAX is headed our way! What kind of hijinks will our favorite morally grey characters get in this whole new medium? Well CBC has the scoop!

DC Exclusive Preview

Peacemaker Presents: The Vigilante/Eagly Double Feature

Today, DC unveiled artwork and covers for Peacemaker Presents: The Vigilante/Eagly Double Feature! This five-issue DC Black Label limited series is inspired by DC Studios’ James Gunn’s visionary Peacemaker series on Max and features two original stories: one spotlighting Peacemaker and his avian sidekick Eagly, and one his crime-fighting friend Adrian Chase, a.k.a. Vigilante. Gunn also serves as story consultant for the series, which debuts at participating comic book shops and digital retailers March 26.

In “Peaceful Vacation,” writer Rex Ogle and artists Matteo Lolli and John Kalisz take Eagly and Chris Smith (a.k.a. Peacemaker) to the great outdoors of Alaska for some well-deserved rest and relaxation from doling out peace in their own over-the-top style. But when their trip is interrupted by a group of masked hijackers (and an annoying flight attendant), it’s up to a certain eagle and his pet human to save the day.

Unfortunately, Peacemaker forgets to tell his pal Vigilante about his vacation plans, and now Vigilante thinks Peacemaker and Eagly have been kidnapped by the Controller, which means big trouble for the criminals of Evergreen, with knives, axes, and gore galore! “A Time for Fables” is written by Tim Seeley and features art by Mitch Gerads. Each issue of the series will include diary entries from Vigilante on “How to Be A Super-Hero,” written by Freddie Stroma, who portrays the character in the Max series.

This is perfect timing for this series to come out as it was also announced that Peacemaker Season 2 would be debuting later this year on MAX. Check out this sneak peek at the story below!

Gwen Stacy’s SHOCKING Return: The New Killer Gwenpool Shakes Up Marvel!

George SerranoComment

GWEN STACY RETURNS… AS A KILLER?!

Her death shattered Spider-Man’s world and became one of the most heartbreaking moments in comic book history. But now, she’s back—and in the most shocking way imaginable!

Teased last week, Marvel is bringing Gwen Stacy back from the dead, but not as the girl you remember. This May, New York Times bestselling writer Cavan Scott (Star Wars: The High Republic) and rising star artist Stefano Nesi are unleashing a brand-new Gwenpool series—and this time, Gwen’s got blood on her hands!

That’s right—Gwen Stacy has returned, but she’s darker, deadlier, and completely off the rails as the new Gwenpool! But she’s not the only Gwen in town. The original Gwenpool, Marvel’s fourth-wall-breaking superfan, isn’t about to let someone else hijack her identity. With Spider-Man caught in the middle, these two Gwens are on a collision course that’s bound to turn the Marvel Universe upside down—because as Gwen Poole knows all too well, there’s only room for one Gwenpool!

A DEADLY NEW GWENPOOL WREAKS HAVOC!

A brutal new vigilante is cutting a bloody path through New York City, dealing out justice with extreme prejudice. But who is this rogue Gwenpool? And what does she want with Spider-Man? With guest appearances from Kate Bishop and Jeff the Land Shark, this series is set to shake things up in a big way!

Writer Cavan Scott is beyond excited about bringing Gwen back into the mix:

"What an absolute honor! Getting to shake up both Gwenpool and Spider-Man’s status quo? Sign me up! This isn’t the Gwen you remember—she’s got Weapon X-style abilities, a killer wit, and a mean streak to match. But the big question is: Who brought her back? And what happens when the original Gwenpool realizes her world is being rewritten? Throw in Kate Bishop and Jeff the Land Shark, and you’ve got the kind of chaotic, over-the-top Marvel series I’ve always dreamed of writing!"

For artist Stefano Nesi, this marks his big Marvel Comics debut after turning heads with his work on Batman.

"I couldn’t ask for a better partner than Stefano Nesi!" Scott added. "His gritty, kinetic art—brought to life by Matt Milla’s electrifying colors—makes every fight scene explode off the page. Monsters, mayhem, and murder—it’s all here, and trust me, no one is safe!"

STUNNING COVERS TEASE THE MAYHEM AHEAD!

Marvel’s pulled out all the stops with jaw-dropping cover art from Chad Hardin and Greg Land, giving us a first look at this dangerous new Gwenpool. Meanwhile, Jeehyung Lee delivers a striking take on the classic Gwen Poole, and Paco Medina’s haunting variant—featuring Gwen’s own grave—hints at the dark twists ahead.

The battle of the Gwens kicks off this May—don’t miss it!

MEGACON 2025: Recap of the Art Adams and John Boy Meyers Sketch Duel

Alex GarciaComment

One of the most exciting events we attended at the convention was the Sketch Duel between legendary artist Arthur Adams and rising star John Boy Meyers. This unique format brought two talented comic book artists together in a head-to-head drawing challenge, where they created sketches based on audience suggestions within timed rounds. Hosted by Aris Quinones of Variant Comics, the event was filled with engaging conversation, humor, and stunning artwork.

Arthur Adams, a veteran artist known for his work on X-Men, Conan, and Fantastic Four, faced off against John Boy Meyers, an up-and-coming artist recognized for his contributions to Teen Titans, Wonder Woman, and Spawn. The competition consisted of two 15-minute sketching rounds. In the first round, Adams was tasked with drawing a bizarre combination—a Jack Kirby-inspired figure with Spawn’s body and a Hitler mustache—while Meyers sketched Venom. Both delivered impressive and wildly creative pieces that showcased their distinct artistic styles.

During the second round, the artists were given free rein to draw whatever they wanted. While sketching, they answered questions from Quinones about their artistic influences, experiences in the industry, and challenges like creative burnout. Meyers credited Todd McFarlane for mentoring him during his time on Spawn, while Adams shared insights about maintaining longevity in the comic book industry. The mutual admiration between the two artists was evident, as they praised each other’s work and expressed enthusiasm for potential collaborations.

By the end of the round, Meyers had created another incredible Spawn sketch, while Adams surprised everyone with a beautifully detailed Popeye drawing—an unexpected but stunning piece that captivated the audience. Adding to the excitement, the event concluded with a raffle, allowing four lucky fans to take home original artwork from the duel.

The Sketch Duel was a beautiful showcase of artistic talent, camaraderie, and fan engagement. It highlighted not only the impressive skills of Adams and Meyers but also the sense of community that makes comic book conventions so special.

MEGACON 2025: DC's Absolute Universe Panel Recap

Alex GarciaComment

We attended the DC’s Absolute Universe panel at MegaCon Orlando 2025, where Scott Snyder led a discussion about the ambitious new line of comics that reimagines classic DC heroes. With strong backing from Jim Lee and DC leadership, Snyder has been instrumental in shaping this bold new universe. The Absolute Batman series has been a massive success, with its first issue selling over half a million copies and subsequent issues continuing to perform exceptionally well. Snyder enthusiastically detailed the future of the Absolute line, including upcoming issues of Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman, and Absolute Wonder Woman.

One of the most exciting announcements involved Absolute Wonder Woman, written by Kelly Thompson with art by Hayden Sherman. This version of Diana is raised by Cersei in hell and wields a magical bag containing an arsenal of weapons. The premise is wildly different yet remains true to Wonder Woman’s core identity. Another major development was Jason Aaron’s involvement in Absolute Superman, initially as a consultant but eventually as the series’ writer. His storytelling approach contrasts sharply with Snyder’s fast-paced style, opting for a slower build-up that promises explosive payoffs in later issues.

The panel also revealed details about the next wave of Absolute titles: Absolute Martian Manhunter, Absolute Green Lantern, and Absolute Flash. Absolute Martian Manhunter, written by Dennis Camp with art by Javier Rodríguez, reimagines J’onn J’onzz as a human FBI agent who merges with a Martian consciousness in a symbiotic relationship reminiscent of Venom. Absolute Green Lantern, penned by Al Ewing with art by rising talent Jahnoy Lindsay, introduces a lone female Green Lantern struggling against a universe where villains hold the upper hand. Meanwhile, Absolute Flash, written by Jeff Lemire with art by Nick Robles, reinvents Wally West without the Speed Force, offering a radically different take on the character.

Another major point of discussion was how these characters would interact within the Absolute Universe. Unlike the traditional DC continuity, where heroes inevitably cross paths, the Absolute line may handle their meetings in unpredictable ways. With a roster of Eisner-winning creators and a fresh perspective on DC’s legendary characters, the Absolute Universe is shaping up to be one of the most exciting developments in modern comics. Fans can look forward to a year of groundbreaking storytelling and stunning artwork as this universe continues to unfold.

DC Absolute Universe Confirmed: Details Inside

Jonathan EscuderoComment

In an effort to reset their line of comic books WITHOUT rebooting the stories and continuity.

DC Comics has announced the birth of a new Universe in its cosmology. The ABSOLUTE DC UNIVERSE will exist alongside the CLASSIC DC UNIVERSE and both worlds will tell stories that are leading to a larger story down the line.

THIS OCTOBER, DC ALL IN SPECIAL #1 WILL KICK THIS OFF.

"What we came up with, along with a bunch of great creators -- Mark Waid and everybody else working on the lead up to it -- is that, during the events of AP, unbeknownst to the superheroes, Darkseid starts to realize that something has always been missing. He senses something in a special moment during Absolute Power that we don't want to spoil. He senses something has changed, and once he realizes this, it sets him off on a quest that's going to bring him into direct conflict with this new Justice League taht Superman is setting up -- this more robust Justice League. The collision between those two forces will reshape the DC cosmology."

That's what creates "a dangerous, wild new planet" -- the Absolute DC Universe -- where Snyder said they have brought in some of the biggest names in comics as well as some rising stars to kick off an epic story that will drive DC for years to come. If the main universe is "founded on Superman energy," then the Absolute universe is "founded on Darkseid energy." In it, the heroes are underdogs, and the world is darker, so "They have to be tougher, they've got to be more resourceful, they have to shine brighter."

ALIENS VS AVENGERS CROSSOVER ANNOUNCED BY MARVEL

Jonathan EscuderoComment

‘ALIENS VS AVENGERS’, a new comic series from writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Esad Ribic.

Releasing on July 24.

Jonathan Hickman spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the series.

"I've never worked on a licensed or 'non-superhero' property the entire time I've been at Marvel, so when all of this came together almost two years ago, I kind of jumped at the opportunity," Hickman tells EW. "I love the Aliens universe and the mythology, and obviously just how atmospherically and well-designed everything is has always gotten my creative juices flowing. It was tricky finding a way to make these two things work together, but I think Esad and I landed on something that works for fans of both franchises.

Probably one of the coolest things about the project is how we've found really fun ways to 'Avengerize' Aliens and 'alien-up' Avengers," Hickman says. "I think fans will be surprised at how elegantly some of those things fit together. It really turned out to be a chocolate-and-peanut-butter situation."

The brief plot synopsis for the crossover says, "It's all led to this: Xenomorphs reach Earth! The perfect organism meets a planet of superhumans. Who will be first to fall?"

RUMOR: DC Planning Major Refocus. New 52 Done Right?

Jonathan EscuderoComment

Recent reports from Bleeding Cool suggest that DC Comics is embarking on a bold new initiative called Absolute DC or DC All-In, led by renowned creator Scott Snyder.

Unlike previous creator-focused endeavors like New 52 or DC Rebirth, DC All-In takes a different approach, aiming for a hands-off strategy that grants creators significant creative freedom. Mark Waid's Summer event is being called Absolute Power. It’s reasonable to believe this new initiative will launch on the other side of this event.

Let’s delves into the details of this groundbreaking initiative and its implications for the future of DC Comics.

The Vision Behind DC All-In:

Rather than following a single central creator-focused line or a major editorial driver, DC All-In seeks to empower creators with a carte blanche approach reminiscent of the All-Star line. Snyder and his team envision an initiative that spotlights DC's entire lineup while fostering innovation and creativity. This hands-off approach is a departure from previous reboot or relaunch strategies, as DC All-In aims to build upon existing continuity rather than starting anew.

Integration with the Main Line:

One notable aspect of DC All-In is its integration with the main DC Comics lineup. Unlike standalone projects like All-Star or the Ultimate Universe, DC All-In publications will be released in conjunction with the main line, forming part of a larger initiative to showcase the breadth and depth of DC's universe. This integration ensures that fans can enjoy a cohesive reading experience while exploring new and exciting stories.

A Holistic Approach to Rejuvenation:

DC All-In is seen as a deliberate effort to learn from past successes and failures, particularly with initiatives like New 52 and DC Rebirth. Rather than simply rebooting or relaunching the universe, Snyder and his team are taking a more holistic approach, aiming to rejuvenate the DC Comics brand while preserving what already works. This approach reflects a commitment to both honoring the rich history of DC Comics and pushing the boundaries of storytelling.

As details about DC All-In continue to emerge, anticipation is building for its official unveiling at San Diego Comic-Con. Fans can expect to learn more about the creative teams involved, the titles slated for release, and the overarching vision for the initiative. With promises of bold new stories and a fresh perspective on the DC Universe, DC All-In is poised to make a significant impact on the comic book industry.

DC All-In represents a bold new direction for DC Comics, one that prioritizes creative freedom, integration with the main line, and a holistic approach to rejuvenation. Led by Scott Snyder and a team of A-list creators, this initiative promises to deliver bold new stories while honoring the legacy of DC Comics. As the comic book world eagerly awaits further details, one thing is clear: DC All-In is poised to redefine the future of superhero storytelling.
