Former All Elite Wrestling star and independent competitor Andy "The Butcher" Williams suffered a terrifying medical emergency on Saturday night that resulted in him being rushed to a local hospital.
The incident occurred during Enjoy Wrestling's "Five Years" anniversary event at Mr. Smalls Theatre in Millvale, Pennsylvania. Williams, who is also widely known as the former rhythm guitarist for the metalcore band Every Time I Die, was competing alongside his longtime tag team partner, The Blade, when the frightening situation unfolded.
According to accounts from those in attendance, the tag team match was proceeding normally when Williams' legs suddenly buckled and he collapsed to the mat. The Blade quickly signaled for assistance and attempted to help him back to his feet, but Williams reportedly passed out again shortly after.
The situation immediately escalated as medical personnel rushed to the ringside area to provide emergency treatment. Paramedics administered chest compressions and utilized a defibrillator to stabilize him. Following the intense on-site emergency procedures, Williams was transported away from the venue in an ambulance for urgent medical care.
The obvious severity of the incident prompted Enjoy Wrestling officials to make the immediate decision to cancel the remainder of the anniversary show.
The promotion issued a statement on social media:
"Andy collapsed at the end of his match this evening," the promotion said in a statement on Twitter. "Our doctors on staff tended to him immediately, administering CPR until the ambulance arrived. We sent everyone home and are at the hospital now waiting for more information."
