An impressive ensemble cast is joining Ryan Gosling in Lucasfilm's upcoming feature, Star Wars: Starfighter, with Shawn Levy at the helm. The film, set to hit theaters on May 28, 2027, will also star Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams. The project was officially unveiled at Star Wars Celebration, where Levy and Gosling made a surprise appearance.

Described as a standalone adventure taking place several years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the film will introduce new characters to the galaxy, with a script penned by Jonathan Tropper.

Star Wars: Starfighter is poised to be one of the final projects for Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, who has now confirmed her retirement. Kennedy will serve as a producer on the film, marking it as a key part of the concluding chapter of her long tenure leading the franchise.

In a statement, director Shawn Levy expressed his enthusiasm for the project: “I feel a profound sense of excitement and honor as we begin production on Star Wars: Starfighter. From the day Kathy Kennedy called me up, inviting me to develop an original adventure in this incredible Star Wars galaxy, this experience has been a dream come true, creatively and personally. Star Wars shaped my sense of what story can do, how characters and cinematic moments can live with us forever. To join this storytelling galaxy with such brilliant collaborators onscreen and off, is the thrill of a lifetime.”
