Rami AfifComment

Kimi Antonelli, now the youngest F1 Champion in history and the first Italian to win the World Drivers’ Championship since 1953.

History has been made for the first time in twenty years with the youngest champion in Formula One.

Heading into the Mexico City Grand Prix, Kimi Antonelli only needed a single point to officially secure himself as the 2026, he was able to secure pole position heading into this weekend, but was still unable to secure the World Drivers’ Championship just yet. That all changed with the events that transpired in Mexico City when a raging bull in Lewis Hamilton was unable to keep things alive and that would result in Antonelli making history.

In 2006, Antonelli was born, that same year McLaren told Hamilton that he would be brought in to become the second driver, taking over for Michael Schumacher. 20 years later and Hamilton is still fighting to secure his eighth championship in F1. A living legend like Hamilton will look back on this season and be proud of the work he was able to accomplish yet again, this time with a Ferrari that took everything to get him to the top three, but Hamilton should also be proud that the sport continues to grow and someone like Antonelli will potentially grow into the big star that Hamilton and Max Verstappen have become in the last twenty years.

Weeks before making his F1 debut with Mercedes last year. Antonelli had just passed his driving test. When Vettel broke the record in 2010, Antonelli was only four years old when Vettel become the youngest ever F1 world champion at age 23 and now Hamilton proudly watches the same kid he wrote autographs for follow in his footsteps.

Antonelli not only beat Vettel and Hamilton for being the youngest to win the World Drivers’ Championship, he also became the first Italian driver to win the title in 73 years since Alberto Ascari won back-to-back in 1952 and 1953. History has been made and it belongs to Antonelli, now, the youngest F1 champion in history.
