Is Ryan Reynolds Teasing the Return of the Anarchy Avengers for Secret Wars?

George SerranoComment

Ryan Reynolds may have just sent Marvel fans into detective mode. The Deadpool star recently posted an image to his official page showing the Avengers’ iconic “A” logo, only this time it was spray-painted over with a jagged red anarchy symbol.

To casual fans, it might look like simple graffiti on a superhero logo. But for those familiar with Deadpool’s chaotic adventures, it is the unofficial emblem of the Anarchy Avengers, a team of misfit Marvel heroes from the void that Deadpool once fought alongside.

Who Are the Anarchy Avengers?

The Anarchy Avengers are not your typical Earth’s Mightiest Heroes lineup. Instead of Captain America and Iron Man, the roster featured characters who had been lost, overlooked, or trapped in limbo. In their most famous incarnation, Deadpool fought alongside Blade, Gambit, X-23, Elektra, and Wolverine.

The team has always been more of a cult favorite than a mainstream Avengers squad. Their dynamic leaned toward chaos and moral ambiguity rather than the clean-cut heroics of the mainline Avengers.

Why Fans Think They Could Return

Reynolds’ post comes at an interesting time for Marvel. With Avengers: Secret Wars on the horizon and the multiverse now central to the MCU, there is more room than ever for surprise cameos and unexpected team-ups.

In a deleted scene that never made it into the final cut, Marvel fans were given a tantalizing glimpse of Blade, Elektra, X-23, and Gambit making a daring escape from the mysterious realm known as the Void. The moment carried huge implications, showing the quartet fighting side by side to carve a path out of the desolate dimension and hinting that their stories might not be over yet. With Marvel rarely wasting character beats this significant, the scene feels less like a throwaway and more like a carefully placed breadcrumb that could be teasing the return of these fan-favorite heroes in future projects.

Secret Wars Could Be the Perfect Place for a Reunion

If there was ever a stage for the Anarchy Avengers to return, Secret Wars would be it. The film is expected to pull heroes from across the multiverse, with strong rumors that Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Iron Man as well as play Doctor Doom and Chris Evans could return as Captain America.

If Marvel is already pulling together the biggest crossover cast in its history, it would not be surprising if more fan-favorite characters, including the Anarchy Avengers, make their debut in the MCU.

Speculation or Strategic Tease?

Reynolds has a history of sharing playful, cryptic content with fans. His post could simply be a nostalgic nod to the comics. But with Marvel in the middle of its multiverse saga, and with Secret Wars positioned as a once-in-a-generation event, it would make sense for the studio to include unexpected and crowd-pleasing surprises. (He might have even leaked the Deadpool footage himself to get the film green-lit.)

For now, all fans can do is speculate. Whether this symbol marks the official return of the Anarchy Avengers or simply serves as an Easter egg, Ryan Reynolds has once again sparked a wave of excitement in the Marvel community.
