*Fury of Firestorm #6 SPOILERS ahead!*

CREATOR REUNITES WITH HIS CREATION

Explosions galore open up this fiery issue of The Fury of Firestorm (see what I did there?).

Stein is trying to do what's right, setting off the device on top of the car and sending himself and Lorraine deep into the animated mind of Firestorm.

During this situation, Bolt and Plastique show up to terrorize the city. But Ronnie knows that something is up. Everything seems "fake," which causes all hell to break loose.

And Ronnie spirals as well when he sees Professor Stein right in front of him. In this forest where Ronnie has been trapped before he lunges at Stein and starts just laying in massive haymakers to his jaw.

Ronnie explains that he's tried to escape multiple times. Even getting close to escaping before, but every time he can't seem to defeat The Matrix.

FIGHT!

Lorraine powers up, punches first and will ask questions later. But it's almost too much for her alone. Luckily she isn't completely alone.

For the last time. Ronnie says, Stein and Ronnie combine forces, uniting and causing The Matrix to vanish. They were able to successfully take over Firestorm and prevent this being from causing anymore casualties.

But this has a cost. After what The Matrix did in the real world, causing numerous deaths. Firestorm believes he needs to sacrifice himself to put an end to that from potentially happening again.

After thanking and kissing Lorraine, Firestorm flies to the sky. Stein tries to tell Ronnie that after all that Stein put him through, he still saw Ronnie as a son. Ronnie tells him that he knows moments before flying into the sun.

Lorraine looks on, knowing Firestorm is gone. Little does she know that lying in wait is another being. Is he good? Is he bad? We'll have to wait and see!

CONCLUSION

And with that, the first arc has seemingly come to an end.

This was a simply fantastic first arc to this story. I know this book was originally supposed to end at this point, but seeing that they've laid the groundwork for this story to continue, my interest is piqued and they have a fan in me until the end of this run.

The confrontation between Stein and Ronnie was what I was hoping it would be. And still left room for the confrontation to potentially continue in the future. With Firestorm being presumably dead, seeing that being at the end makes me want to know more ASAP. But sadly we need to wait another month to get to the bottom of this mystery.

The Fury of Firestorm continues to be a layered, emotional, and downright home run of a book. This book has some real competition in the DC comics space, but it still finds a way to stand tall and be a stellar story that evokes true emotion.

Overall Score: 9/10
