3K and The Chairman look to end the mutant vs human war with the X-Virus being fast tracked. Where is it being released? Philadelphia, and the X-Men are now tasked with saving millions of lives.
*SPOILER WARNING AHEAD!*
WHERE IT BEGINS:
Philadelphia.
The fate of the human and mutant race rests in Philadelphia. The same X-Virus that brought on the Age of Apocalypse is being prepped to be released by 3K and The Chairman.
The X-Men need to stop this in order to save thousands of lives from being lost.
Up in the sky, 3K plots and plans the release of the virus. But they can't seem to get on the same page on this issue. Constantly bickering and wanting different things out of this plan. They can't get on the same page.
Down at the Baxter Building, Beast, Ben Liu, and Reed Richards are studying Magneto's body, which is suspended in a tube. Beast knows that Magneto's disease was something that came purposefully from the future. But he's requiring some assistance to find out what it is in his DNA right now that is so important that Magneto was targeted and why the Chairman needed it so badly.
Reed has obvious concerns, though. Magneto is... well, Magneto. He doesn't want to help bring back a mutant as powerful as him and cause more casualties by him being at his full power again. Beast insists that Magneto isn't that person anymore and gives his word that Magneto won't be the person he used to be. He's seen it firsthand.
After some convincing by Sue Storm, Reed agrees to continue on with this testing and will assist Beast in this research to save mutants and the 1.6 million humans in Philadelphia.
3K continues to try to get on the same page. A toast by The Chairman to create common ground is attempted, but Cassandra Nova collapses before she can even take a sip of her drink. Her mind has been overtaken by Quentin, who has some plans for her.
ITS CLOBBERIN’ TIME:
3K instantly thinks that the Chairman poisoned her, which he swears he didn't. That wouldn't even be possible with her strong telepathic powers. She'd see that coming from a mile away. They need to change their focus because they're under attack.
The X-Men try to take down 3K, and they are very prepared this time. Taking out Timebomb with strategic ease. But when one of 3K goes down. The rest of them appear in her place.
Luckily Sue Storm made a call to The Thing and Johnny Storm to go and help the X-Men.
CONCLUSION
Didn't know I desperately needed an X-Men/Fantastic Four crossover until this issue, and I'm seated for it!
DNX lays the groundwork for this next chapter in X-History. And it’s pretty easy to digest, which is good for X-Men. Over the years, they've had a tendency to over-complicate some scenarios. But Age of Revelation, followed up by DNX, has been stellar.
The flow of this storyline has felt natural since 3K were introduced and since the fallout of Age of Revelation. It’s felt like chess pieces meticulously falling into place, and has confirmed a fact about Marvel Comics that I've felt passionate about for some time now. That the X-Men titles are single-handedly the best product under Marvel's banner in 2026. And why not mix in some Fantastic Four entertainment for fun?
This issue is a huge win and a definite pickup for people wanting to get into DNX. Just be warned that it absolutely does take some prior knowledge of recent X-Men history to understand the general conflict of the book. Read up on your history, kids, and go scoop this up!
