In April, Square One Pro, a Taiwan-based promotion that organizes professional wrestling fan meetings, autograph sessions, and talk events, officially announced that Japanese wrestling legend Kenta Kobashi will hold a fan meeting in Taipei, Taiwan, on August 29.
At the event, fans will have the opportunity to meet and take photos with Kobashi. The event will also include an autograph session, a talk session, and a special opportunity for fans to experience one of Kobashi's famous chops. According to Square One Pro's official Facebook page, a limited number of additional spots for the fan meeting will be announced soon.
Square One Pro was officially established in January 2023 by its founder, Shane Liu. Before starting Square One Pro, Liu had experience working as a booker and promoter and had helped bring several major wrestling matches to Taiwan. One of the most well-known examples came in late 2018 at an NTW event in Taiwan, when Johnny Impact defended the Impact Wrestling World Championship against Matt Sydal. The match was made possible through Liu's efforts.
Since 2023, Square One Pro has invited internationally known professional wrestlers to Taiwan almost every year to meet and interact with local fans. Previous guests have included Japanese wrestler Yuki Kamifuku, former WWE wrestlers Mike Rallis and Tenille Dashwood, Japanese wrestling legend Minoru Suzuki, legendary women's wrestler Manami Toyota, and now Kobashi. With such an impressive list of guests, Square One Pro's events have become some of the most anticipated annual events for wrestling fans in Taiwan.
Liu previously told us that the idea for Square One Pro came from his own experience attending wrestling fan meetings. At the time, he was disappointed that, for various reasons, he wasn't able to interact more with the wrestlers. That experience inspired him to create something different. His goal was to give wrestling fans in Taiwan the opportunity to create memories and experiences worth more than what they paid for.
Today, with the efforts of Liu and the many people working alongside him, Square One Pro has gained support from wrestling fans in Taiwan and around the world. For many fans, its events have also become some of their most memorable experiences as professional wrestling fans.
