It has been a few days since the major news dropped from Marvel Studios at San Diego Comic Con regarding film projects post-2027 Avengers: Secret Wars. Since that Hall H panel, the world is still amazed at the announcements MCU head honcho Kevin Feige made that Saturday night in California.
Fans of the MCU finally received confirmation that a Ghost Rider film is finally happening. In addition to that, Black Panther III will be released in late 2028 with a rising star taking up the mantle. In regards to Avengers: Doomsday, we kind of got confirmation of a major star making an appearance in the film. Sadly no X-Men or Avengers: Secret Wars reveals. Maybe at D3 in August?
As rumored for many weeks, Marvel Studios has confirmed a Ghost Rider movie, and it's Ryan Gosling in the title role! "Wow, is this really happening,” the 3x Academy Award nominee asked. “Okay… uh… as you know, this is a character I’ve wanted to play for a very long time." The project also confirmed the direction of Deadpoll and Wolverine filmmaker Shawn Levy, whose upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter also stars Gosling. Ghost Rider is due out at some point in 2028.
The Russo Brothers, Rebecca Romijn, Lewis Pullman, James Marsden, Hannah John-Kamen, David Harbour, Kelsey Grammer, Winston Duke, Simu Liu, Tenoch Huerta, Danny Ramirez, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Pedro Pascal, Hayley Atwell (confirming she’s in it), and Chris Evans came on stage to promote December’s Doomsday, but it was Dr. Doom, the former Tony Stark, Robert Downey Jr. who led the way.
"God bless us all! I gotta tell you, it isn’t easy being green," Downey said. "I had a lot of help. I had this whole family around me to finally be an arch nemesis. Decisions will have to be made…you have to decide if you’re on the side of the good guys or,” as he put on his Doom voice, “you may consider the alternative of joining the family of Doom."
This led into the Russo Brothers showing the audience exclusive footage of Doomsday. The following include spoilers for Doomsday:
Early in the footage, Doom is shown on the throne. Sue Storm of the Fantastic Four notes how kind and caring he used to be until everything had been taken from him. That leads into intense shots of other characters, notably Shang-Chi, Shuri, Thor, and Gambit, before Doom raises his hands and an army of domant sentinels rise from the ground.
As the actors left the stage with Feige thanking everybody as though the Doomsday portion of the presentation had concluded, Feige lingered around just a tad longer, and said “there is one more thing…”
Deadpool is confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday as Ryan Reynolds appeared in a grey X-Force Deadpool costume!
"Longtime listener, first time caller. I'm a huge fan,” Deadpool told the audience. “I’m not wearing a Doom mask over this mask because I don’t want to ruin the lines of my Canadian tuxedo."
Ryan Coogler came on stage alongside a panel that included Winston Duke and Letitia Wright to make it official that Black Panther III will be out December 15, 2028. The premise of the final film in the trilogy sees the son of T’Challa, played by the late Chadwick Boseman, will become the New Black Panther. David Jonsson, best known for recent films like Alien: Romulus and The Long Walk, has officially been cast in the role.
It was an awesome moment for Jonsson being accepted by the fans for being inserted into the MCU. After years of speculation on who or which character from Black Panther lore will be portrayed on screen, the news was positive and with Coogler, fresh off 2025’s Academy Award winning Sinners, will most likely deliver another great film in the franchise and for the MCU.
